Grange Hill High student gunned down in suspected gang violence

A 16-year-old student of Grange Hill High School was shot and killed in an after-sports-day deadly attack.

A female student was also injured in the shooting and was rushed to the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Carson Barrett a grade 10 student.

The shooting happened on Bell Isle Road which is where Grange Hill High is located.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has since condemned the killing of the schoolboy in the violence-ridden community of Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

Investigators have suspected the killing is linked to gang violence between the King Valley Gang and the Ants Posse Gang.

The young boy is said to be affiliated with the Kings Valley Gang.

The Principal Donaldson Lawrence said that the students in question is some of their High Achievers and they are not in any gang conflict within the school’s premises.

Face-to-face classes have been suspended at Grange Hill High on Friday.
