An alleged inDrive driver was shot and killed after becoming an innocent victim during an armed robbery at a bar along Maxfield Avenue in Kingston shortly after midnight on Sunday, June 14.
According to reports, the driver had stopped in the area to pick up a passenger when he was caught in the middle of a robbery.
Surveillance footage from the bar captured the incident. The video reportedly shows two masked gunmen forcing several people who were outside the premises back inside at about 1:00 a.m.
The men then took control of the bar, ordering five males, including the driver, toward the rear of the building while they searched the premises for cash and other valuables.
One of the gunmen reportedly went behind the counter and rummaged through the establishment, while the other briefly stepped outside before returning moments later.
The driver was eventually brought to the front of the bar, where the robbers allegedly demanded money from him. He was seen raising his hands and telling them he had nothing to give.
Moments later, as the group moved toward the entrance, one of the gunmen opened fire, hitting the driver. He collapsed on the steps of the bar and died on the spot.
The suspects then fled the scene in a waiting motor vehicle.
