Family pleads for help to repatriate bodies of brothers murdered in Connecticut

The family of two Jamaican brothers fatally shot outside a bar in West Haven, Connecticut is desperately raising funds to bring their bodies back to Jamaica.

Miquel Blake, 31, and Dravere Blake, 34, were killed in the early hours of June 20. Police responded to reports of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. and found both men unresponsive at the scene.

The brothers were rushed to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in the case, and authorities say the investigation remains active.

The brother’s mother, Marie Blake, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover the high costs of transporting the bodies internationally, along with funeral and burial expenses.

The page, created just two days ago, has raised approximately $6,862 toward a $30,000 goal.

In a statement, the family expressed their profound grief, describing the loss as “unimaginable.” They emphasized their desire to lay the brothers to rest in Jamaica, the place they considered home in their hearts, surrounded by loved ones.

The funds will support international transportation, funeral arrangements, burial costs, and related travel and administrative expenses.

“This is something our family desperately wants to do to honor their memory and give them a proper farewell,” Marie Blake said.

As the investigation continues with no suspects in custody, the family is appealing to the public for support during their time of need.
