Man killed by police in Downtown, Kingston

Another fatal shooting involving security forces has rocked the capital, with a teenager killed along Charles Street near the Kingston Public Hospital on Wednesday.

According to local reports, the incident marks yet another case of alleged confrontation between civilians and law enforcement. The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

As of May 20, official figures show that 131 people have lost their lives in similar encounters with security forces this year. May alone has already seen 16 such fatalities recorded.

The latest tragedy has reignited concerns about the use of force by authorities amid ongoing efforts to combat crime. Residents in the area expressed shock as news of the shooting spread quickly through the community.

INDECOM officials say they are working to gather evidence and witness statements as the investigation continues.

No further details about the victim have been released at this time.
