Policeman Dies From Severe Injuries Sustained in Motorcycle Collision

A twenty-seven-year-old police constable has succumbed to the severe injuries he sustained after the motorcycle he was riding crashed in St. Elizabeth.

According to reports, the deceased, Constable Ezroy Boothe, was attached to the Junction Police Station in St. Elizabeth. Constable Boothe, who had been admitted and receiving treatment for his injuries at the Black River Hospital, passed away on Monday.

Boothe had lost a large amount of blood, and there had been an appeal for donations to be made on his behalf. The officer had been hospitalised since the incident occurred on September 29 while he was riding his motorcycle along the main road in Lacovia. He had been scheduled to be transferred to another medical facility for further care.

The head of the St. Elizabeth police division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, disclosed that Boothe crashed into a utility pole after losing control of the motorcycle and suffered internal injuries.

“Constable Ezroy Boothe was driving his private motorbike in an easternly direction along the Lacovia main road, heading in the direction of Santa Cruz. Reaching a section of the main road, he lost control of the motorbike and crashed into a pole. He received severe injures… The doctors have confirmed that both legs are broken, as well as he sustained other internal injuries to include also his pelvis,” Minto shared prior to the constable’s death.
