Six Jamaicans Killed in Car Crash in Florida

Six Jamaicans, including three young children, were killed in a car crash in Osceola County, Florida on Saturday.

Two of the women who died in the crash, Andreil and Keiosha Anderson, migrated to America in 2013. The sister’s father Errol Anderson, is a resident of Caymanas Gardens in Portmore, St. Catherine.

According to Anderson, the group was on their way to celebrate their 3-year-old granddaughter’s birthday. In addition to Andreil, Keiosha and the children, Yahshea Mullings, their god-sister, was also travelling with them at the time the incident occurred.

Reports state that the group of Jamaicans was travelling westbound on the road in a 2024 Hyundai Tucson while a 011 semi-truck was travelling eastbound. It is not clear who was driving the vehicle but preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Hyundai attempted to pass several vehicles by entering the eastbound lane.

The driver then attempted to re-enter the westbound lane, but she lost control of the car. The semi-truck reportedly struck the left side of the Tucson and both vehicles later became engulfed in flames.

The three adult women and children were not able to escape the burning vehicle. The six passengers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the semi-truck was transported to a hospital for treatment after receiving minor injuries.
