Two Killed in Fatal Collision on Braco Main Road, Trelawny

Two people have died following a serious motor vehicle collision involving a truck and a Suzuki Grand Vitara along the Braco section of the North Coast Highway in Trelawny on Monday evening.

The deceased have been identified as “Ojay” and “Alicia.” Both were occupants of the Suzuki Grand Vitara at the time of the crash.

According to reports, the male occupant died at the scene, while the female occupant was taken to hospital for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.

Their identities have not been officially released by authorities.

Police have not yet disclosed what may have caused the crash or provided details on the sequence of events involving the truck and the SUV.

210 people had been killed in road crashes across Jamaica as of August 17, 2026, according to the Island Traffic Authority, with 181 fatal crashes recorded at that point.

With the two deaths from Monday evening’s Braco collision, the number of people killed in road crashes in Jamaica since the start of the year has risen to at least 212.

The figure underscores the continued danger on Jamaica’s roads, despite road fatalities remaining below the level recorded during the corresponding period last year.

Investigations into the Braco collision are ongoing as police work to determine the cause of the crash.
