A woman was shot and killed during an orchestrated gun attack on her and her son.
The incident happened on Monday morning along the Breadnut Hill main road in Ocho Rios. The deceased has been identified as Thelma Brown.
Brown was a bar operator who resided at Hyatt’s Field, Breadnut Hill, St. Ann. Reports state that Brown was picked up by her son at her place of business at approximately 1:25 a.m.
Brown’s son left her bar with the intent to take his mother home. However, when they reached a section of Breadnut Hill Road, they fell victim to what the authorities suspect was a targeted attack on Brown.
According to reports, Brown’s son’s vehicle was overtaken by another car which blocked their path. Though Brown’s son managed to drive away the first time their car was blocked, their path was soon blocked again.
Brown’s son’s attempt to maneuver the vehicle away from the other car was unsuccessful, and he crashed into a wall while trying to reverse. The son then ran from the vehicle, after which he heard several gunshots.
According to RJR News, the police were notified of the incident, and Brown was later discovered with bullet wounds to her hand. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
