The search for a missing St. Elizabeth woman ended in tragedy on Tuesday when police and residents recovered her body from the Black River in Lacovia.
The deceased has been identified as Nicole Brown, also known as “Nicky,” a 50-year-old resident of Lacovia.
The St. Elizabeth Police Division confirmed that Nicole’s body was recovered after an extensive search involving law enforcement officers and community members.
According to reports, Nicole was last seen on Sunday. Concern grew after she failed to return home on Monday, prompting relatives to begin searching for her and attempting to locate her husband.
As word of her disappearance spread, emotions ran high in the Barton Wharf community.
On Monday night, a crowd confronted Nicole’s husband, accusing him of killing her and disposing of her body in the Black River.
Police intervened before the situation escalated further, removing the man from the area for his own safety.
Investigators are now treating the matter as a suspected domestic-related incident.
While early police findings suggest a domestic dispute may have preceded Brown’s death, detectives say investigations remain ongoing as they work to determine exactly what happened.
Authorities have not yet announced whether any charges have been laid.
