Three killed in Mandeville police shootout, including woman

Three people, including a woman, were shot and killed during a violent confrontation with police in Mandeville on Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, the incident began at approximately 4:00 p.m. after police received information about a series of robberies being carried out in the area.

Officers later intercepted a vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects near Horseshoe Curve along Caledonia Road.

Investigators say the occupants of the vehicle allegedly opened fire on the police, prompting officers to return fire.

The exchange of gunfire quickly escalated into a prolonged standoff and running gun battle before police eventually brought the situation under control.

Following the confrontation, two men and a woman were removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital, where all three were pronounced dead.

The shooting occurred just one week after the same area was rocked by another deadly incident in which nursing student Deenekia Pounall and Sadefa Henry were fatally shot while traveling in a taxi.

Investigators said the gunman had posed as a passenger before carrying out the attack.

Police have not yet released the identities of the three people killed in Saturday’s confrontation, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
