A 50-year-old woman identified as Katherine Wallace, lost her life in a fatal stabbing incident on Wednesday at about 6:15pm in the community of Love Lane in Downtown, Kingston.
Witnesses looked on as the incident unfolded in a busy public area. Several people attempted to intervene and protect Wallace during the attack, but her attacker was relentless.
The incident was also captured on video by a CCTV camera.
Later that night, sometime after 11:00 p.m., police went in search of the suspect, identified as Davar Dacres.
When confronted by the police at the intersection of Hanover Street and Beeston Street, it is reported that Dacres charged at the police with a knife and yelled “mi nah go a jail”.
He was shot and killed by police officers attached to the Central Kingston Police Division.
The Independent Commission of Investigations INDECOM, is now investigating.
