The St. Catherine North Police Division is currently investigating the murder of a man and the injury of a man believed to be his brother during a dispute in Linstead, St. Catherine, on Wednesday.
The identities of the deceased man and his brother have not yet been disclosed. According to reports, the incidents happened sometime after 9 a.m. in the Jericho district of Linstead.
The deceased and his brother reportedly got into a dispute with another man in the community. It is not yet clear what started the argument between the men, but the confrontation later became violent.
Reports state that a sharp instrument was used to inflict wounds on both men. The brothers were transported to the Linstead Hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other admitted to the medical facility for treatment.
The probe into the man’s murder is being led by the Linstead Criminal Investigation Branch. According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Serious Crimes Report for January 1 to September 6, St. Catherine North has recorded 37 murders, a 38.3% decline when compared to last year’s figures.
However, both St. Catherine North and South remain in the top five police divisions with the most murders so far this year.
