Police Investigating Suicides of Three Men

Detectives attached to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are now investigating the suspected suicides of three men in three separate incidents on Thursday in the parishes of St. Catherine and St. Andrew.

The first incident occurred in the Conners district of St. Catherine and involved a 47-year-old barber. According to reports, the deceased, Paul Elliot, was found by residents at approximately 8 a.m.

Elliot, who was also known by the alias Julius, was reportedly found with a sheet wrapped around his neck and hanging from a balcony. The third incident involved a 23-year-old man who was found unresponsive on Sixth Street in Greenwich Town.

The young man, Kevon Hamilton, was found after police were summoned to the premises around 10 p.m. Reports state that Hamilton was found hanging from a ceiling with the curtain that was tied around his neck.

In addition to Elliot and Hamilton’s deaths, a businessman is also suspected of having committed suicide. The name of the deceased was not shared with the public, but reports state that the incident also happened in St. Andrew.

The businessman was found with what appears to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound at an apartment complex early Thursday morning.

According to Nationwide News, suicides have increased over the past four consecutive years since 2021.
