The moment a brazen daylight robbery unfolded was captured on Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage reportedly recorded at a Barnett Street supermarket in Montego Bay.
A video from the incident, which reportedly occurred on Sunday, has been circulating on social media, and the four assailants who carried out the robbery can be seen in the footage. The men, all of whom were wearing ski masks, can be seen pushing two men at the entrance of the store further into the supermarket as they enter.
One of the assailants, who was seemingly armed with a rifle, cornered an Asian male cashier. On the other hand, one of his accomplices, who had a handgun, instructed two customers at the female cashier to move further into the supermarket.
The assailant with the rifle proceeded to empty the cash register on his side while another one of his accomplices, who was seemingly not carrying a weapon, emptied the female employee’s cash register.
The thieves also stole alcohol from the establishment. After the man with the rifle accidentally fired his gun, the robbers frantically made off with the stolen items.
Reports indicate that the robbery took place near the Barnett Street Police Station.
