The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is currently probing the death of a higgler who was shot by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) during an operation in Taylor Land, Bull Bay, St. Andrew on Tuesday.
The deceased, Adrian Wright, was also known by the alias ‘Odane’ and was a resident of the community. According to reports, Wright was not the target of the police operation.
The police team went to a premises in the community in search of Kimon Foreman. Foreman, also known as ‘Kimmy’, was wanted for assault at common law and murder.
During the operation, the officers approached a dwelling at the rear of the premises. As they approached, Foreman reportedly exited the building carrying what appeared to be a rifle.
After Foreman ran to the left of the building, Wright allegedly appeared with a rifle. Wright reportedly raised his firearm in the direction of the officers, who took evasive action and fired at him.
According to reports, Wright fell into a nearby house, and officers pursued him. He allegedly aimed his weapon at the officers again, and they opened fire for a second time.
Wright’s alleged weapon, a Radical Firearm (RF-15) with a magazine containing 23 5.56 mm rounds, was later seized. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
