Dancehall artiste Deva Bratt released a statement via social media after the controversial deejay was arrested by the police in Florida.
Footage recently surfaced online of Deva Bratt engaging in a tense verbal exchange with a police officer. While the details of what started the incident have not yet been confirmed, Deva Bratt was reportedly seated inside a vehicle at his residence when an officer observed him not wearing a seatbelt.
The situation escalated, and Deva Bratt was later taken into custody.

Following the circulation of the video, some viewers expressed scepticism, with some speculating that it may be publicity for a new music video. However, according to a GoFundMe reportedly started for the Bundle a Gal deejay, born Sheldon Smith, he was facing deportation back to Jamaica after a wrongful arrest.
Amid speculation about whether Deva Bratt was actually detained, he released a video on his Instagram page on Sunday, showing the alleged wound he received after getting arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Captioning the video, the deejay thanked his supporters and said that he is still healing mentally and physically.
“Still healing physically and mentally after being wrongfully arrested, injured and disrespected by JSO. This incident shook me, but I’m staying strong through it all. Thank you to everyone who’s reached out with prayers, love, and support from my community. This fight isn’t over,” Deva Bratt wrote.

The artiste did not provide any further details about his arrest. Deva Bratt was a member of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire before he and the deejay had a falling out several years ago. The deejay has had previous run-ins with the law and was freed in 2011 of carnal abuse charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 2008.
