Jamaican Man Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Spouse to Death in the U.S.A.

A Jamaican man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his girlfriend, who is also Jamaican, after she died from the injuries she sustained during a stabbing.

The deceased, Tamara Rowe, was found at her apartment in Bronx, New York, after the police were reportedly notified about a domestic dispute on Saturday. Rowe was found with stab wounds to her chest and right arm.

The 40-year-old’s boyfriend, 39-year-old Khaleel Cooper, allegedly fled the crime scene before the police’s arrival. Cooper, who shares two daughters with Rowe, was apprehended by the police on Monday. He is now facing multiple charges related to Rowe’s death, including murder.

Following the death of their mother and the arrest of their father, Cooper and Rowe’s daughters, age 11 and two, have been placed in the care of the New York Administration of Children’s Services. According to reports, officials are trying to have the two minors placed in the custody of relatives or a friend of the family.

Per reports from The Jamaica Gleaner, the Jamaican consulate located in New York is working to resolve the issue in a manner that is in the best interest of the two girls. While the police have not disclosed the evidence they have against Cooper, his building’s superintendent disclosed to the press that surveillance footage from inside the building shows him fleeing the scene.

The footage, which allegedly shows Cooper running out of the apartment where the stabbing took place and down the stairs, was recorded shortly after the incident.
