A woman has been apprehended and charged after she allegedly attacked a teenager with a ratchet during an argument at an event in Portland.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday in Port Antonio. The accused has been identified as Sasha-Lee James.
James, who works professionally as a secretary, is a resident of Prospect Land Settlement. The name of the 17-year-old victim has not yet been disclosed to the public.
Reports state that James was one of several patrons at an event in the community when an argument developed between her and the teen at approximately 12:15 a.m. What started the disagreement between James and the victim and the details of their argument are not yet known.
However, James and the teen’s verbal confrontation reportedly turned into a physical altercation when a man at the event allegedly gave the woman a ratchet knife.
After James took the knife, she allegedly used the weapon to attack the teen. Details regarding the severity of the victim’s injury vary, with some reports stating that she was cut on her neck, while others allege that she was stabbed in her neck.
Reports state that after she was injured, the teen was transported to a hospital for treatment and was admitted in stable condition. James, who is in her 30s, was later arrested by the police and charged with wounding with intent.
Her court date is currently being arranged.
