Relatives Speak Out After 9-Y-O and 10-Y-O Were Allegedly Assaulted by the Same Man: Video

The relatives of two young girls are speaking out after the sisters were allegedly sexually assaulted by the same man in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.

Head of the St. Catherine South Police Division, Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Leighton Grey, disclosed that the girls were returning home from school when the accused man, Ricardo Brown, allegedly led them into bushes. A report was made to the police after the 9-year-old and 10-year-old sisters were released by the accused.

Brown was arrested in St. Thomas and charged a week after the alleged incident occurred earlier this month. He was later identified by the two sisters during an identification parade.

Reports state that Brown was apprehended by the police for a similar offence last year. Speaking with TVJ News, one of the girls’ relatives shared that she is happy that Brown was captured, as his previous offences prove that he has not changed.

According to the relative, Brown’s partner denied knowing anything about the accused man’s actions and apologised.

“Mi see har out a Old Harbour one day when mi guh market and shi a tell mi seh shi really really sorry. Sorry bout wah happen. Shi seh anytime mi wah nuh help mi can just call pan har,” the relative shared.

Another relative of the victims shared that she and Brown’s partner’s mother were friendly before the incident. She also accused Brown of abusing other children.

The family of the victims said that they are hoping that Brown is given a life sentence for assaulting the two minors. Despite the trauma left by the incident, one of the girls’ relatives shared that they are in good spirits.

However, they have not returned to school since the incident occurred and are scheduled to receive therapy. The family have expressed fear about using the track where the girls were taken, but they say it may be unavoidable.

Brown is facing multiple charges, including sexual touching of a child, grievous sexual assault, and forcible abduction.
