Unlike his Dancehall peers, Alkaline has shied away from the spotlight after his rise to fame and has developed a reputation for being antisocial. The Extra Lesson deejay has created an air of mystery around him, hardly sharing content on social media platforms.
Despite the rarity of his presence online and on the stage, his fandom continues to grow, and the artiste sat down for his first interview in almost a decade to speak with BET. Alkaline has inspired many young artistes, and the deejay reflected on his growth as a musician during his interview.
According to Akaline, over the years since he first gained popularity, he has developed a strong style and has come into his own. Amid the shifting trends in the music industry, Alkaline continues to reap the success of songs released during the early years of his career.
Sporting his controversial black eye contacts, Alkaline conveyed that he does not feel pressured to top his past achievements and focuses on being himself.
“Mi just do me… and di people dem appreciate it, and mi respect that…and wi glad weh it bring wi and weh it do fi wi so far,” Alkaline stated.
The Company deejay went on to credit the inspiration behind his success to his fans and said that he is grateful for the support that he continues to get. Alkaline added that he is looking forward to taking his career to even greater heights. Following the release of his interview on Wednesday, Alkaline teased a new single on his Instagram page.
