Two Jamaican women are currently facing deportation after pleading guilty to prostitution charges in the Bahamas.
The women were identified as Toshema Tana-Lee Steer, a 31-year-old, and 28-year-old Mikaela Selena Jacas.
Mikaela and Toshema were arrested at different locations in Freeport by immigration officers on April 30.
They appeared in court before Magistrate LaQuay Laing, where they pleaded guilty.
Both women apologized for bringing shame to themselves, their country, and the Bahamas while they asked for leniency.
They were ordered by the judge to each pay a US$500 fine or face 6 months in prison.
Magistrate Laing also informed the women that they would be deported after the fine is paid or the sentence is served.
