UWI student gunned down on tiktok live

A student of The University of the West Indies (UWI) was shot and killed a day after receiving his status letter for completing his degree in International Relations and Psychology.

The young high achiever was identified as 23-year-old Keauno Watson otherwise known as ‘Popsy’.

Reports are that Watson was outside with friends in Allman Town, Kingston at around 8:00pm when armed men entered the premises and fired indiscriminately.

Watson was fatally shot and another male was shot and injured.

The incident was captured on a TikTok livestream.

Both persons were rushed to the hospital where Watson was pronounced dead and the other male admitted.

The UWI student’s mother, Sandra Blair was distraught when she heard the news that her son had been shot.

She recalled her son sending her a screenshot of his degree as their last conversation and how elated they both were.

“Him get him degree today and them kill him the next day”, Blair said.

“Right now mi feel like a my fault because a me wake him up outta him sleep and tell him to go outside and get some fresh air.” She continued.

Watson is the youngest of three siblings and is a past student of St. George’s College.

He was expected to graduate from UWI in October and had dreams of taking his family out of poverty.
