A taxi operator was shot and killed on Red Hills Road in St Andrew on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Dale Campbell, a taxi driver who operates within the parish.
Reports are that Dale was driving along the intersection of Sandy Gully Bridge in the vicinity of the Grace Reformed Baptist Church at around 11:00 pm when he was shot and killed.
He died on the spot.
The area was then cordoned off as a scene of crime and the body was removed to the morgue
Police theorized that the gunman was a passenger in the driver’s vehicle.
This has been the second killing of a taxi operator along Red Hills Road since August.
On August 10, a taxi operator identified as 29-year-old Lashawn Heslop was shot and killed at the same spot.
Investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents are linked.
The Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is informing all taxi operators to be observant when traveling with passengers in volatile areas.
