A man who allegedly committed multiple crimes was killed by angry residents in St. Ann on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Orlando Coward, also known as ‘Theo’, a 36-year-old from Gray Wood, St. Ann.
Theo was accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl from Castle Kelly District on Tuesday.
The teen who was in her uniform was reportedly taking a taxi when Mr. Coward abducted her and brought her to his house where he sexually assaulted her numerous times.
The young girl later escaped and was taken to the hospital.
A report was made and Mr. Coward was sought by the police about the matter.
A few days later on Friday morning, Coward, armed with a homemade shotgun and a homemade handgun, broke the window of another house and attempted to kidnap an 8-year-old girl.
The child was rescued by her mother so Mr. Coward grabbed hold of her 2-year-old son and ran off into the bushes.
Residents later managed to rescue the toddler and reunite him with his mother.
Mr. Coward then invaded another resident’s home and held them at gunpoint.
Residents armed with machetes came together and disarmed Mr. Coward of his firearms.
He was later found dead in a canal with multiple chop wounds.
