Two Women and One-Year-Old Boy Killed in St Andrew Shooting and Fire

Two women and a one-year-old boy were killed in a shooting and arson attack in Kidd Lane, Two Mile, St Andrew, on Friday night.

The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Lashane Ellis, her son, Kaheel Daley, and 39-year-old Kimeisha Gibson. All three were from the community.

Residents reported that armed men went to the house occupied by Ellis and her son at approximately 11:30 p.m. and opened fire before setting the building on fire.

The attackers then reportedly fired shots at a neighbouring house before fleeing the area. Gibson was killed in the attack on the neighbouring property.

Ellis and her young son were later found beneath a burnt mattress inside the fire-damaged house. The mother was reportedly clutching the child’s body.

The killings has been described as a tragedy and the police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward with information.

The circumstances surrounding the attack and the motive behind the killings have not been established in the available reports.

Jamaica continues to record fewer murders than last year. As of October 6, the country had recorded 407 murders for 2026, according to National Security and Peace Minister Dr Horace Chang.

The deaths of Ellis, Gibson and Daley would bring that figure to at least 410, if all three are confirmed as additional cases not already included in the official tally Jamaica Records 24 Per Cent Reduction in Murders The (JIS) Jamaica Information Service show that the 407 murders represented a 24 per cent decline compared with the same period in 2025.
