Love Triangle Allegedly Leads to Man Getting Stabbed to Death in Mandeville

A man was stabbed to death after allegedly attacking a fruit vendor in Mandeville because of a love triangle.

The deceased, a resident of the Clarkes Town district off New Green Road, was known by the aliasKello’. The incident occurred near the New Green roundabout on Thursday.

According to fruit vendors located in the area, Kello, a former vendor himself, had a long-running dispute with the male vendor he allegedly attacked. The hostility between the men was reportedly caused by a woman.

“You see the one weh dead him used to out here a sell fruits too, but him lef and then all come here come chop the other one over wan woman. A long time dem at it and this is how it end,one of the vendors shared with the Jamaica Observer.

Reports state that at approximately 3:00 p.m., Kello and the vendor got into an altercation. The altercation became violent, with the vendor stabbing Kello.

The authorities disclosed that they will be treating his death as a homicide as they await evidence to determine if it was murder or done in self-defence. In regard to the reports of a love triangle being at the centre of the men’s dispute, the police said they have not yet confirmed if the story is accurate, as their investigation remains in its early stages.

It is not yet clear if the fruit vendor fled the scene or if he was taken into police custody.
