Two men who had allegedly kidnapped a woman were killed during a reported confrontation with members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) on Thursday.
According to reports, the woman was driving in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, this morning, when the assailants blocked the road she was traversing with a log.
She was then forced from her car and blindfolded by the assailants. The men then transported her from Westmoreland to the parish of Hanover, where she was kept in a two-bedroom board house.
After the authorities were notified of the abduction, they proceeded to use the information that they received to locate the woman. During the police’s rescue operation, there was an alleged gun battle between the officers and the gunmen.
This resulted in the deaths of two of the assailants, while two others escaped from the house. According to the police, two firearms were seized during the operation.
The woman was rescued by the officers without harm. Her abduction was reportedly orchestrated by an incarcerated gang leader.
The identities of the men who escaped the shootout were not revealed, but they have been described as known violent producers. The identities of the deceased men have also not been disclosed.
