The police have slapped a phone technician with rape charges after the man allegedly assaulted a woman after fixing her phone.
The accused has been identified as 27-year-old Tevin Myrie, a resident of Maiden Lane in Kingston. According to reports, the incident occurred on April 19.
After giving Myrie her phone to work on, the woman, whose identity was not disclosed, visited Myrie at his Maiden Lane home to retrieve the device and pay for the work that had been done.
However, when she attempted to pay him for the repairs, the phone tech reportedly refused to take her money. It is alleged that Myrie forcibly pushed her inside his house and then assaulted her.
The incident was later reported to the police. The authorities later apprehended Myrie during an operation and took him into custody.
Following a question-and-answer session with the police, he was charged on Monday by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.
In addition to being charged with rape, Myrie has been charged with forcible abduction. The phone technician is scheduled to answer the charges laid against him during his court hearing on May 09.
