A 16-year-old male was shot and killed by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force in Cressa Lane, Portmore, St. Catherine.
The deceased, identified only by his alias ‘Mari’ was from a Portmore address.
Preliminary reports suggest that around 7:00p.m., a police team was conducting an operation in Cressa Lane when individuals fired upon them.
The police returned fire, and officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The teen was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
A Taurus G2 nine-millimeter pistol with a magazine containing five rounds was reportedly seized by the police.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has begun an investigation into the incident.
This latest incident pushed the number of people killed by the police to 70 since the start of the year.
