A female sex worker who was reportedly attacking a man with a knife was on Wednesday shot and killed by a police officer.
The incident took place at Old Shoes Market, Montego Bay at around 7:00am.
Preliminary reports state that the woman was chasing a man with a knife when a police officer who was on the scene ordered her to drop the deadly weapon.
The police reported that the woman continued her pursuit in an attempt to stab the fleeing man, which resulted in the officer using deadly force.
The woman was then brought to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Independent Commission Of Investigations INDECOM is currently probing the matter.
