Shopkeeper and Customer Gunned Down in Linstead

Two men were shot and killed in Orangefield District, Linstead, St. Catherine on Monday night after gunmen attacked a shop.

Both men were identified as 36 year-old shopkeeper, Raciel Givans otherwise called ‘Ruger’, and Dayton Dwyer, also known as ‘Corey’ a Watchman at a Primary School in the community.

Reports are that, around 8:00pm, ‘Corey’ was sitting outside of the shop when armed men alighted from a motor vehicle and shot him multiple times in the head.

The men then went inside the shop and shot Givans several times before making their escape.

Both men, said to be cousins, were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The police are trying to find a motive for the killing and rules out robbery as a possible motive.

The police said 28 spent casings were found on the scene.

Residents said both men were hard working men of the community.
