An engineer working on the Montego Bay Bypass project was killed in a tragic accident at the construction site in St James on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Clifton James, an engineer attached to Stanley Consultants.
Reports indicate that James was measuring an area of the project near Granville, St James, at around 10:00 a.m. when he was struck by a truck that was reversing at the site.
He was reportedly crushed in the incident and died as a result.
Police Investigating
Police were called to the location as investigations into the fatal worksite accident got underway.
The incident has since sparked an outpouring of sympathy online, with social media users expressing sadness and sending condolences to James’ family and loved ones.
One person reflecting on the tragedy commented, “Just yesterday a tractor fell about 35 feet off the cliff on the same site.”
