Munga Honorable walks free as murder case collapses

Dancehall artiste Munga Honourable is breathing a sigh of relief on Friday after the Bad From Mi Born singer and his co-accused walked away from a murder case that has been hanging over their heads for years.

The entertainer, whose real name is Damian Rhodes, and Sheridan Gordon were both freed after prosecutors decided not to continue pursuing the case linked to the 2017 killing of Cleveland Smith in Ackee Walk, St Andrew.

The news sparked celebrations among supporters of the artiste, who has maintained his innocence throughout the lengthy legal battle.

Sources familiar with the proceedings indicated that the prosecution’s case encountered serious difficulties during the trial, particularly regarding the sole eyewitness’s testimony.

The witness, who spent several days on the stand, reportedly faced intense scrutiny over inconsistencies in her testimony.

Following those issues, the Crown offered no further evidence against the men, effectively bringing the case to an end.

Munga was represented by attorneys Christopher Townsend and Chadwyk Berry, while Gordon’s legal team included King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and attorney Sayeed Bernard.

Munga has not yet made any comments since the court’s ruling.

Sources close to the artiste told Radam Magazine that the artist is ecstatic and has always been in high spirits.
