7-Y-O Drugged and Sexually Assaulted in Linstead, St. Catherine

The police have apprehended a man believed to be behind the abduction and sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl on Thursday in Linstead, St. Catherine.

The child, whose name is being withheld for her protection, was walking home from school in Treadways when the incident occurred. According to her father, she was usually picked up by a driver and brought straight home.

However, after her driver did not arrive to pick her up from school, the child decided to walk home by herself, and she was attacked.

“A man appeared from out of the bush behind her and draw her in the bush, stuff substance in her mouth, cover her mouth as well that she can’t bawl and say anything… then after the drowsiness come outta har now, a suh comes she come outta di bush and start cry,” the child’s father shared.

The father went on to share that his daughter was spotted by a member of the community who was driving by the area. She relayed the story to the individual who took her to the hospital, and she was medically examined.

It was reportedly confirmed that the minor had been drugged. Residents subsequently launched a search for the suspect in the community and found a man loitering in the area.

He was later handed over to the authorities after being questioned. According to the child’s father, she is receiving psychological and medical treatment.
