A thirty-two-year-old man has been slapped with murder charges following a fatal shooting in his community of New Road, Flankers, St. James.
The alleged shooter has been identified as Junior Young, who is also known by the alias ‘Tentroy’. The deceased man has been identified as Junior Golding, a labourer from Providence Heights, Flankers.
The thirty-two-year-old was killed during a dispute at a party last week on August 21. According to reports, Golding, otherwise known as ‘Papa’, was at an event at about 2:05 a.m. when Young and an accomplice who was armed with a firearm approached him.
The men attacked Golding, and a tussle ensued. During the altercation, Young allegedly held Golding down, and his accomplice shot Golding.
The shooter and Young later fled the scene, leaving Golding nursing a gunshot wound to his head. The authorities were notified, and they transported him to a hospital.
However, Golding was pronounced dead by doctors at the medical facility. An investigation into Golding’s death was subsequently launched, and Young later turned himself in to the police.
He was charged on Monday, based on eyewitness statements, and is awaiting the finalisation of his court date. Police records state that St. James had recorded 37 murders and 38 shootings from January 1 to August 23.
