A People’s National Party (PNP) supporter who threatened to ignite violence if the party did not win the upcoming general elections was arrested in St. Elizabeth after the video of his threats went viral online.
Superintendent Coleridge Minto, the Head of the St. Elizabeth police, confirmed that the man, Giovannie Skeen, had been formally charged for releasing the video. According to reports, on Wednesday, a police team carried out a targeted operation in the community of Balaclava, where Skeen resides.
Skeen, a clothes vendor from the Marlborough district, was detained by the officers and later charged with the use of audiovisual communication to promote violence. Skeen, who is also known by the alias ‘Mother Love’, shared the video on his TikTok page earlier this week.
In the video, the vendor said that if Zuleika Jones, the PNP’s candidate for North East St. Elizabeth, is not elected and the PNP does not win, he will turn the world into Haiti.
“Yuh see if we nuh win, we a guh turn di world in a Haiti. Bay big mattic and rifle,” Skeen stated.
Other PNP supporters can be heard off-camera telling Skeen to stop, but he proceeds with the threats. He went on to state that he was a real PNP supporter and is willing to murder people for his party.
