Baby Cham’s Mother, ‘Mama Jennie’, Has Passed Away

Dancehall veteran Damian Beckett, professionally known as Baby Cham, is receiving support from his industry peers following the deejay’s announcement that his mother, Jennie Beckett, passed away.

Cham shared the news of his mother’s passing in a series of posts on his Instagram page. In his first post, which was shared on Sunday, Cham posted a video of himself along with Celine Dion’s song Goodbye’s (The Saddest Word), along with the caption, “ONE DON. MAMA JENNIE. JAH.”

While the deejay did not explicitly express that his mother had passed in his first post, in his post earlier today, Cham shared that he would miss his mother dearly.

“The Most Beautiful Human Being I Know. ONE DON. MAMA JENNIE. May Jehovah Prepare A Place For You. I’m Gonna Miss You So Much. One Don. Mamma Jennie I Love You With All My Body And Soul,” Cham wrote.

The message accompanied a video and photo collage of Beckett, including some special moments that the mother and son shared together.

Cham has not yet shared the details surrounding Beckett’s death. Following the news of Cham’s mother’s death, the artiste’s fans and industry peers have been extending their support, with his long-time friend and collaborator Bounty Killer sending his condolences.

“Let’s all put a word of prayers for my bredda @thecham on the lost of his beloved mom affectionately called Mama Jennie. Jah know bredda I know how much this must be taking on you. It’s the most dark and horrible road to trod. Folks, my deepest empathy and condolences to the whole entire family,” Bounty wrote.
