Three people, including three children, were left injured after a taxi crashed into a house in McCooks Pen, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on Thursday.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 10:15 p.m. A resident of the community shared that the taxi, a Toyota Probox, was travelling in the direction of Spanish Town when the driver crashed into the house.
The home was severely damaged during the crash, with video footage recorded at the scene showing scattered debris and appliances in the exposed interior of the wooden dwelling. The resident, a neighbour of the family who resides at the premises, shared with the press that she rushed out of her home after hearing a loud bang.
“I heard a big bang at first, and then I realised that it was coming from nearby. So I rushed out, and when I came out here, I saw my neighbour crying, saying that her father, daddy is under the car,” the woman said.
She went on to share that she saw the man pinned under the car. He was later removed from under the vehicle.
The woman further disclosed that two children, approximately nine and 13 years old, were also injured during the accident. One of the children reportedly suffered a concussion, while the other’s leg was broken.
