Dancer DHQ Chicken Killed in Manchester

The local dance community is mourning the death of dancer Dancehall Queen Chicken, who was shot and killed in Manchester on Thursday.

The dancer, birth name Brittany Francis, was crowned International Dancehall Queen in 2022. Francis was a resident of the Brinkley District near Junction, St. Elizabeth.

According to reports, she was at a bar in Richmond, south of Mandeville, at the time when the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Francis was at the bar with the business establishment’s operators, who were closing up and preparing to leave.

Reports state that multiple loud explosions were heard at the location, and the dancer was later found with gunshot wounds. A vehicle at the location was also found with a shattered window, seemingly caused by a bullet.

Francis was taken to the hospital for treatment, but she later succumbed to her injuries. The dancer’s death is the sixth reported murder in the parish since the beginning of the year.

Following Francis’s death, her family has received an outpouring of support online, with members of the Dancehall and dance community, including Keiva Di Diva, Latonya Styles, Kim Wheezy, and Chiney, sending their condolences via social media.

Sound system selector Boom Boom expressed shock as he sent his condolences to Francis’s family on Instagram.

“Sending my condolences to the family of #dhqchicken. I don’t know what happened, but all I can say is the whole street a mourn. This Jerk up my heavens,” Boom Boom wrote.
