Following the death of a landscaper last year, an elderly man was charged this week for his murder.
Winston Dixon was formally charged this week after he was taken into custody by the authorities Friday. The sixty-five-year-old farmer, who is also known by the alias ‘Steppa’, is a resident of Warsop, Trelawny.
The accused was apprehended during a targeted police operation. Dixon is accused of the murder of 29-year-old Ryan Scott.
Scott was a resident of Cooper’s Pen in Falmouth and the Falmouth police have been investigating his death since his murder on July 7. According to reports, Scott was standing outside a shop with a group of men at the time of the incident.
At approximately 9:45 p.m. Scott was reportedly approached by Dixon. The farmer was allegedly armed with a firearm and shot at Scott multiple times.
Scott sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. After Shooting Scott, Dixon allegedly fled the scene of the incident on foot.
Bystanders alerted the police who found Scott’s body on the roadway. He was lying facedown, seemingly unconscious.
Scott was pronounced dead after he was transported to a hospital. A court date for Dixon is in the process of being set.
