71-Y-O Janitor Dies After Being Struck by a Minibus in Cross Roads

A female janitor from St. Andrew died after she was hit by a minibus in Cross Roads on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ikodel Wright. The 71-year-old resided at Berwick Road.

According to reports, at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, the elderly woman was traversing the roadway when the incident occurred.

After Wright was hit by the vehicle, bystanders notified the police. When the authorities arrived at the scene of the accident to assess the situation, Wright was found lying along the roadway, seemingly unconscious.

The janitor was pronounced dead after she was transported to a hospital. The police are currently investigating the incident. It is not yet clear if the driver of the minibus remained at the scene of the accident.

Wright’s death follows a hit-and-run in Portmore a day ago, which is also currently being investigated by the police. The victim, Gavin Blake, was also traversing the road during the morning when he was hit by a motor vehicle.

Reports state that the driver of the vehicle proceeded to drive away from the scene of the accident after hitting Blake. The 28-year-old later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a hospital.
