The police have confirmed that the teenage boys seen in a viral video sexually assaulting a female student have been arrested.
Their identities have been withheld as they are minors.
The video was first posted on Instagram by social media user @playboii.lava_
The video depicts multiple teenage boys forcing themselves on a female student of a prominent high school in St. Catherine.
The police are also urging the public to not share the video as this can affect the outcome of the case and cause trauma to the victim.
Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, the Minister Of Education, and Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, the Minister Of Gender, Culture, Sports and Entertainment, have both condemned the incident.
Grange stated that all Jamaicans should take a stand against gender-based violence and enforce the safety and protection of women.
Dr. Morris Dixon said that the Ministry of Education is ready to provide counseling for the victim and family members.
