Westmoreland man suspected of taking his own life outside his home

A man is suspected to have committed suicide outside of his home in Water Works, Westmoreland on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified only as ‘Dwight’ of a Water Works address in the parish.

Reports are that residents heard a single explosion and went outside to investigate.

The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with what appears to be a self-inflicted wound to his head.

The police were summoned and the body was removed to the morgue.

A firearm was also recovered from the scene.

Residents in the quiet community are still in shock as they describe Dwight as a humble man.

UPDATE: further reports suggest that Dwight was killed by gunmen.

An eyewitness states that when Hoodlums attacked the now-deceased, he pulled out his licensed firearm before he was shot in the head.
