The home of Dancehall artiste Sheldon Lawrence, professionally known as Aidonia, was raided during a series of major police operations on Friday across the St. Andrew North Police Division.
According to reports, the operations were targeting individuals suspected of having alleged illegal firearms and involved in criminal activities. The search at Aidonia’s home began shortly after 5 a.m. this morning while the artiste, his wife, and their infant son were at the residence. Reports state that another family member was also at the house at the time.
A search warrant was presented, and officers proceeded to comb through the house. However, nothing illegal was found at the home of the deejay. Lav ‘Lalo’ Lawrence, Aidonia’s brother and manager, arrived amid the search of the residence.
While no illegal weapons were discovered at Aidonia’s home, initial reports indicated that two individuals were taken into custody pending further investigations. However, Lawrence shared with Prism Marketing Consultants that only one family member was taken to the Constant Spring Police Station to check if there were any infractions against him.
Lawrence also expressed that he is surprised by the police raid at his brother’s house and said that it has tainted Aidonia’s image.
“I am very surprised by this operation because Aidonia is an upstanding family man and beloved member of his community. So to see this unfold is embarrassing and taints the artiste’s image with his community. Aidonia’s sole focus is his family and career,” Lawrence said.
In addition to Aidonia’s home, reports state that several premises across the St. Andrew North division were searched simultaneously during today’s operation. One person was reportedly arrested, and it is likely that the individual will be charged for breaching the Firearms Act.
