Police Investigating Death of 30-Y-O Man Found with a Firearm

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is probing the suspected suicide of a man who was found dead at home with a pistol on Wednesday.

The deceased man has been identified as James Todd. The thirty-year-old resided in Norbrook Drive, Kingston 8.

According to reports, Todd had been acting out of character early Wednesday morning before his death. After his unusual behaviour was observed, loud explosions were later heard coming from his bedroom, and his parents went to check on him.

Reports state that Todd’s body was then found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his head. In addition to a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol, two magazines were also discovered beside his body.

Todd was subsequently rushed to the Andrew’s Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Reports state that the 9mm pistol was seized, as well as a Beretta shotgun that was kept in a safe at the house.

The probe into Todd’s suspected suicide is being led by the St. Andrew police. His death comes amid growing concerns regarding suicides in the country that have occurred over the past few weeks. The JCF recently highlighted that there has been a mid-year surge in suicides, which could worsen if there is not an urgent intervention.
