Man Hit and Killed by a Car After Running and Sitting on a Road in St. James

Investigators are currently probing the death of a man who was hit and killed by a motor vehicle after he ran onto a road in St. James.

The deceased man has not yet been identified by name, nor is it known if he resided in the Long Bay area where the incident occurred on Monday. According to reports, a motorist was driving in his Honda Fit motor car along the Long Bay main road in a westerly direction at approximately 10:15 p.m. when the unidentified man ran onto the road.

After running out onto the roadway, the man reportedly sat there. Despite the Honda Fit’s driver’s attempts to swerve the vehicle away from him, the car collided with the man.

The collision resulted in the man getting trapped under the vehicle. The police were subsequently alerted, and the injured man was transported to a hospital for treatment.

However, he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the accident. The probe into the circumstances surrounding the unusual events leading up to the accident is being led by investigators from the St. James traffic division.

According to statistics from the Island Traffic Authority (ITA), there have been more than 284 road fatalities since the beginning of this year.
