Following the shooting death of a man at the Toolies River on Sunday, the deceased has been identified as Lavar Malcolm, a former partner of popular social media personality Ivany Wright.
Malcolm, who also went by the alias ‘Jamie Warlock’, resided in the Kintyre district of St. Andrew. According to reports, Malcom was one of several patrons on a section of the Toolies River near the Manchester/Clarendon border.
According to reports, sometime after 1:00 p.m., Malcom was approached by a man armed with a firearm. The assailant is said to have demanded Malcom’s belongings, but he did not comply and resisted the gunman’s attempts.
The gunman then reportedly chased Malcolm along the riverside and opened fire, shooting him multiple times in his upper body. Following the shooting, concerned residents expressed concern, as the incident does not reflect the reported, usually peaceful nature of their community.
While investigations are ongoing, it is theorised that the shooting was not just an attempted robbery, and Malcolm’s murder may be linked to an ongoing feud in the Papine area. Reacting to his passing, Malcolm’s ex Ivany shared that he had reached out to her earlier this year and informed her that he was in trouble.
Ivany said that Malcom informed her about the death of a man in his community and the attempts to attribute the murder to him. He was seeking funds from the social media personality to relocate; however, she said that she was on the road at the time he called her, so she could not speak to him.
Ivany further shared that Malcom became upset when she did not get back in touch with him in a timely manner and blocked her, so she could not call or message him back.
