The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovered in a pile of garbage in St. Catherine on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Juan Thomas, a customer service representative. The twenty-four-year-old, who was also known by the aliases ‘Jay Jay’ and ‘Ends Man’, resided in the Johns Road area where his body was found.
According to reports, residents of Clayton Heights heard explosions at about 10:18 p.m. and alerted the authorities. When the officers arrived at the scene, Thomas’s body was found riddled with gunshot wounds in a pile of garbage in an open lot.
Reports state that the injuries he sustained were to his upper body. Thomas was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into his murder is being led by detectives assigned to the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch. A motive for Thomas’s murder has not yet been established.
According to the JCF’s latest Serious Crimes Report, St. Catherine South and St. Catherine North have recorded 53 and 35 shootings, respectively, between January 1 and September 6.
