Police Release Details in Gruesome Slaying of 1-Year-Old and 3-Y-O

Following the gruesome murder of two siblings from the Swamp District in Moneague, St. Ann, the police have disclosed the events which led to one of their parents allegedly attacking them on Tuesday night.

The deceased brothers have been identified as 1-year-old Amir Sanders and 3-year-old Shamir Henry. The main suspect in the case, one of the boy’s father and the other’s common-law stepfather, is currently in police custody; however, he has not yet been charged.

According to reports, on the night of the children’s death, the man and the children’s mother were consuming ganja tea at about 8 p.m. An argument later developed between the man and his spouse, possibly as a result of the effects of the drug-infused tea.

Amid the dispute, the man allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and attacked the woman. She was able to escape, but as she fled, she saw him attack the children and stab them with the scissors.

Reports state that the woman ran to the Moneague Police Station and reported the incident. When officers arrived at the scene, the two minors could not be found, and their father was found in an intoxicated state.

There were also blood stains in sections of the home. A search for the children was subsequently launched, and the man was taken into custody. The search for the children later ended on Wednesday, when their bodies were discovered in an area behind the family’s home.

According to The Jamaica Gleaner, Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Rohan Elliot has indicated that the children’s father will be charged based on the eyewitness statement given to them by their mother.
