Investigators attached to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have arrested and charged a 31-year-old labourer from Westmoreland, who allegedly attacked and stabbed a man after a heated disagreement at a community shop.
The name of the victim has not yet been released to the public; however, the police have identified the accused as Demario Williams. Williams is also known by the alias ‘Hell’.
According to reports, witness statements were collected by investigators, and Williams was apprehended by the authorities during a police operation. He was formally charged yesterday, on Independence Day.
Reports state that the stabbing occurred on August 2 in the Retreat district. At approximately 5:38, Williams and the victim got involved in an argument. Their heated verbal altercation at the shop later turned physical when Williams left the business establishment and returned to the location allegedly armed with a knife.
He reportedly proceeded to use the weapon to inflict wounds on the victim’s face and neck. Following the attack, the victim was transported to a hospital by the police.
After receiving treatment for his injuries, he was released from the medical facility.
